Love Letters
Dates Playing: 2/18/2012 - 2/19/2012
Written By: A. R. Gurney
Director: Heather Markgraf Lowe
Staring: Heather Markgraf Lowe and Bert Markgraf
This unique and imaginative piece of theatre is made up of letters exchanged over a life-time between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways but continued to share confidences. What is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is written down.
Valentine performance by Hudson Village Theatre’s Heather Markgraf and her husband Bert.
Heather Markgraf Lowe - Melissa
Heather has been working as an actor, director, producer and teacher for the last 25 years. She is a graduate of the Concordia University Theatre Department and
founder of Hudson Village Theatre which she ran for 11 years. Heather founded Theatre Panache 6 years ago and has toured a number of productions with the company, most notably Till We Meet Again by David Langlois, which has been remounted five times and toured Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.
Heather has performed in “Love Letters” in Hudson and Knowlton. It is
a powerful and poignant story that re-visits many of life’s major
themes. Enjoy the show.
Bert Markgraf - Andy
Bert has been active in theatre his whole life, directing, producing and acting. His directing credits lean towards the comedic, such as "Boeing-Boeing" by Marc Camoletti, but also include "All About Eve" by Joseph L. Mankiewicz. He helped produce many of the early shows in the tent at the Village Theatre in Hudson and served as the first President of the Board of Directors of the Hudson Village Theatre.
Favourite roles have been Creon in "Antigone," Robert the writer in David French's "Jitters" and Christ in a medieval passion play. He was most recently seen as Flip Wilson, the photographer, in Hudson Production's Birthday Bash Murder Mystery at Willow Place in Hudson, and he directed Heather in Shirley Valentine in Newboro last year. He is pleased to be returning to Hudson to play Andy opposite Heather in this wonderful play.
