Artistic Director's Message
Welcome Everyone,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 21st season of outstanding, professional theatre in Hudson. We are all very excited about our four Canadian shows this summer. My aim is to present relevant theatre, “to hold a mirror up to nature,” as Shakespeare so succinctly put it in Hamlet.
However, I fully appreciate the need for fun, laughter and relaxation in the summer and so I have chosen comedies with an edge. We are very fortunate to have with us this July Canada’s most successful playwright, Norm Foster, on stage in his own play “On a First Name Basis”. Our musical revue “Summer of Love” is a flashback to the wild and woolly days of 60’s culture and music. Added to this is Ken Campbell’s highly acclaimed and quirky play about a marijuana grow-op called “Harvest”. And ending our summer is Bonnie Laing’s delightful comedy “Peggy and Grace.”
I have selected a variety of summer fare to give you a chance to create fond memories with your family and friends, so please take this opportunity to taste and savor all four productions. Unlike movies or the internet, theatre is live, so come out and “live it live” at Hudson Village Theatre this summer.
